Hello everyone,
My name is Earth Alcott; I am the Owner and Proprietress of Avgi Isle.
I have been involved with Second Life for over a year, and in this time I have come to believe in the limitless potentials for this amazing new medium.
Education has long been a sacred thing to me; there is no greater calling then to teach. With the use of Second Life and new technologies emerging worldwide, an educator can touch minds across the globe in new and powerful ways.
Many of you who are familiar with Second Life have an understanding of the potential in this digital wonderland.
This is more than glorified chat room or another way to teleconference. This is a persistent, immersive environment, one that can relay the entire spectrum of human thoughts and ideas.
Imagine having a holodeck for a classroom and you are starting to see the potentials.
We can share art, music and ideas worldwide. Here we have the ability to create whatever the mind can envision, from a simple idea to grand visions of epic scale. We can connect with like-minded people worldwide on a more personal level then mere text can convey.
Of course, getting started is the hard part. The first days in Second Life … well it's a little like puberty.
We stumble around bumping into things and people, are a bit awkward in the way we communicate and sometimes our new bodies look funny. The world around us can seem complicated and foreboding.
But just like that stage of our lives, it passes and we emerge into a larger, richer world full of limitless potentials.
